PROFFORMANCE Toolkit from teacher performance assessment to teacher competence development

PROFFORMANCE+ aims to improve teaching quality by evaluating teaching practices and enhancing teachers' competencies. The primary deliverable is the PROFFORMANCE toolkit, which consists of an Assessment Tool for evaluation and a Teaching Excellence Database for sharing best practices, which were developed in the previous project phase, PROFFORMANCE.

In January 2024, experts began outlining the structure and guidelines for the next component of the toolkit. The upcoming PROFFORMANCE short course modules are designed to be flexible and interactive, following the microlearning concept and respecting learners' autonomy. These courses will be self-paced and free of charge, complementing the existing teacher evaluation and support systems in higher education institutions.

Throughout the latter half of this year, experts will continue developing the modules for the course platform, followed by the testing phase. There will be 16 modules comprising a comprehensive system that can guide users from beginners to experts.

PROFFORMANCE+ Highlights

EMPOWERING INNOVATIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING PRACTICES ACROSS BORDERS

Over 120 higher education teachers from the EHEA countries participated in the sixth PROFFORMANCE+ thematic webinar on Internationalisation in Higher Education: Empowering Innovative teaching and learning practices across borders held on the 16 May 2024. Three good practices on the topic of internationalisation in higher education have been presented. The practices ranged from service-learning in EFL teacher education, designing business start-up companies through an online international multidisciplinary collaboration project, to developing remote work competencies through global virtual teamwork.

EXCITING PEER REVIEW ACTIVITY ON PROFFORMANCE SHORT COURSES

PROFFORMANCE experts and reviewers have organized an engaging peer-review activity. Each working group has developed course module prototypes in the four EHEA priority areas: digitalization, internationalization, inclusion, and sustainability. Testers and reviewers provided their feedback to identify the characteristics of the most professional, up-to-date, and user-friendly courses designed for higher education teachers.
